The New 2025 Civic Hybrid in Calgary

After a decade of its absence, the Honda Civic’s Hybrid model returns triumphantly. The Honda Civic is a well-known and popular brand in Canada. However, the brand discontinued the Hybrid nameplate after its 2015 model. 

Instead, the company focused on the Insight Hybrid. With hybrid vehicles becoming increasingly popular, the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid is set to return.

The Resurrection of the Civic

Car fans nationwide were excited to hear that the prodigal son returns as the Honda Civic Hybrid will reappear in the summer of 2024. That’s right, in less than four to five months, summer will have arrived, and with it, the reveal of the 2025 Civic’s Hybrid model. 

It’ll introduce a newly available hybrid powertrain that combines style and electrified power effortlessly. Production will start with the sedan version in Ontario, and the company estimates it will account for over 40% of the model sales in North America. 

Currently, the company hasn’t released any pricing. However, we believe the price will range between $35,000* to $48,000*.

Expected Performance 

The new hybrid will power itself with a version of Honda’s award-winning two-motor hybrid-electric system. Many believe it’ll boast the 1.5-litre turbocharged or 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, giving it between 158 and 180 horsepower. 

However, there’s also the exciting possibility of it featuring the impressive 2.0-litre Direct Injection, four-cylinder engine Honda Accords boasts that has up to 240 combined horsepower. 

Regardless, it’ll improve responsiveness, which fulfills the need for a sporty feel. It’ll also ensure relaxed driving at highway speeds and better fuel efficiency.

New and Improved Design

This model will boast a fresh wheel design and sleek lines to create a sporty design. A wider nose, thinner corner intakes, and a revised upper grille contribute to the sporty look.

The brand will streamline the interior to give a sporty atmosphere with a wide centre console. It’ll likely have ample cargo and passenger space, giving it the ideal balance between a comfortable and sports look.

Technology That Elevates

Looking at the 2024 Civic and the Accord Hybrid, we believe we can deduce some of the technology available in this hybrid model. 

It’ll likely boast a 7.0-inch to 12.3-inch colour touchscreen display and feature an audio system with eight speakers. If the brand goes the more luxurious route, it might boast a Bose premium sound system featuring 12 speakers.

We expect to see driver assist systems such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Traffic Sign Recognition as a standard. If it mimics the Accord to any degree, it’ll likely also offer Blind Spot Information and Rear Cross Traffic Monitoring.
