What Is Honda Planning?
Honda is creating a new division to speed up and strengthen its position in the EV industry. The manufacturer is looking to catch up in the full EV market. With effect from April 1st, Honda's new division will consolidate its automobile development and electrification strategy.
Honda has confirmed that it is combining six regional centres into three. By doing so, Honda hopes to implement resources as per its future lineup and focus on electrification acceleration. Its vehicle lineup in China and North America is expected to be mid to large size and the rest of the region can expect small to midsize cars.
Honda has also joined hands with Sony to jointly develop an EV at a North American Honda plant and deliveries will begin in 2026. The 2024 Honda Prologue is also a step in this direction. It is a fully electric SUV that delivers a driving range on par with existing SUVs. Honda has a strategy to roll out 30 EV models and produce over 2 million EVs by 2030.
