Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer Unveiled

Honda recently unveiled the CR-V Hybrid Racer, and Honda’s Performance Development President defined the vehicle as a beast in sheep’s clothing. The CR-V Hybrid Racer epitomizes Honda’s fun-to-drive ethos and showcases electrification.

What Is The CR-V Hybrid Racer?

The CR-V Hybrid Racer was designed in California at Honda’s Performance Development Centre (HPD). It was built in Ohio at Honda’s Automotive Development Centre (ADC). The CR-V Hybrid Racer features a 2.2L twin-turbo engine. It also features an electrified V6 INDYCAR transmission and power unit under the hood to create a rolling laboratory. This helps with Honda and HPD’s continued development of electrified technology. The CR-V Hybrid Racer will run on 100% renewable race fuel by Shell and will feature Empel MGU hybrid technology and Skeleton Supercapacitors.

When Will It Be Unveiled?

The project is under development under the code name ‘The Beast.’ The CR-V Hybrid Racer is expected to debut between March 3rd and 5th at the NTT INDYCAR Series opening race of the season at St. Petersburg, Florida. The vehicle will be displayed and make demos on track at multiple INDYCAR events throughout the year.

You can see it at Long Beach’s Acura Grand Prix between April 14th and 16th, Indy Grand Prix in Alabama between April 28th and 30th, Honda Indy 200 in Ohio between June 30th and July 2nd, Honda Indy at Toronto between July 14th and 16th, Big Machine Grand Prix in Nashville between August 4th and 6th, Grand Prix in Portland between September 1st and 3rd, and Firestone Grand Prix in Monterey between September 8th and 10th.
